Andrew Garfield to star in crime thriller from It Follows director

Andrew Garfield is taking the plunge with It Follows filmmaker David Robert Mitchell. The Amazing Spider-Man and 99 Homes actor is attached to star in Under the Silver Lake, a crime thriller Mitchell has written and will direct, EW has confirmed.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, other than it’s a noir story set in contemporary Los Angeles. Production is to start in the summer.

Michael De Luca, Chris Bender, Jake Weiner, and Adele Romanski are producing.

Mitchell established himself as a rising talent with It Follows, a critically acclaimed low-budget horror movie about a sexually transmitted curse. Released last year, the film grossed $14.7 million at the box office.

Garfield is best known for playing Peter Parker and his wall-crawling alter ego in Sony’s two Amazing Spider-Man movies, and his upcoming films include Mel Gibson’s World War II tale Hacksaw Ridge and Martin Scorsese’s Jesuit drama Silence.
