Andrew Garfield is a proper fashion guy now

So many, many banging suits
Andrew Garfield is a proper fashion guy now

Andrew Garfield has come a long way. Professionally, yes. But also with fits that've increased in size since he hit screens back in 2007.

Long, long ago, the British actor was into simple stuff. Which is fine. There were charcoal short-sleeved shirts embellished with collegiate ties. A few risks with turquoise sneakers and burgundy slacks. But all in all, another actor that wanted to focus on The Craft as opposed to The Fit.

But get you an actor who can do both! Present-day Andrew Garfield is flourishing and thriving. He gets fashion. What's more, he's into it with the help of stylist Warren Baker (who also decks out the likes of Glenn Powell, Dylan O'Brien and Finn Wollfhard).

The thing with Garfield is that, while he largely sticks to a tailored look on the red carpet, he's not afraid to go bold in fits that most guys can comfortably try out.

“We intend to look at classic silhouettes with a twist,” Baker tells GQ. “Whether it’s the colour, lapel style, flare or pleated pant. We collaborate really well on ideas and have a similar feel for tailoring and classic pieces and know when it’s the right time and place to wear a specific piece."

Baker says that Savile Row tailors such as Edward Sexton, as well as the big design houses on the continent, design the stuff that Garfield feels most comfortable in. “They are the masters of beautiful silhouettes and Andrew and I are all about doing something with a vintage twist.”

There was the tonal, skin-hued Ermenegildo Zegna look at the Critics' Choice Awards earlier this year. A Gucci fit allowed him to pop on the red carpet at the LACMA Film and Art Gala thanks to an all-over polka dot design. Maison Valentino jeans and floaty blouse combo? Pulled together with a sharply-tailored blazer. Molto bene! A pussy bow blouse? Let's go. For our very own MOTY 2022? A deep black suit that was given a playful edge by way of a polka dot (he loves 'em!) tie. Neat stuff Garfy.
